    Swansea University is to showcase its inspiring and diverse research as it launches a brand new, free, science festival, the largest event of its kind in Wales. The festival will be on 8th-10th September and is in partnership with the National Waterfront Museum. A full programme of events has been launched, revealing diverse topics such as dinosaurs, levitation, Star Wars, maggots and particle physics in sport, are amongst the highlights in store for visitors

    The bi-annual meeting is an opportunity for researchers from the UK and Ireland who are interested in the biology of staphylococci to meet and discuss their research. The program will focus on presentations by postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers who will share with us the most cutting edge research developments from all areas of basic and clinical staphylococcal research. Selected abstracts will be chosen for oral presentations. All other abstracts will be included in a moderated poster session. Prizes will be awarded for the best oral and poster presentations.

    oin the Cardiff Institute of Tissue Engineering and Repair for an afternoon of engagement fun! There will be an “open house session” over an extended lunchtime (approx. 12:15 – 14:00) on 19 September where colleagues from across the University and general public can attend to experience “operation man”, “maggot racing”, “brain games” and the new “gooey blast-a-biofilm” activities. This session takes place during the CITER Annual Scientific Meeting.

    Allergens: Science, Health Effects and Innovations

    The two-day course will feature talks from experts in the allergy field, as well as a day in the laboratory. The first day of the training course will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff. The course will feature distinguished guest speakers from academic institutions, as well as Indoor Biotechnologies lead scientists. On Day 2, participants will receive specialised laboratory training at InBio’s facility in Cardiff, for hands on experience of allergen sampling and detection using the latest ELISA 2.0 and MARIA® technology.
